The Canberra Games Festival is owned by the Academy of Interactive Entertainment Ltd (AIE Ltd) and organised by Interactive Entertainment Events (IE Events), the event management division of the AIE Ltd.

The AIE Ltd is a non-profit organisation committed to the development of the Computer Game Development Industry and related creative industries. The AIE Ltd comprises of AIE Education and Canberra Technology Park (CTP). The former is dedicated to training both programmers and animators for the computer games and animation industries. CTP is an information technology incubator centre encouraging the growth of a strong regional creative industry by providing an excellent cluster environment where tenants can interact and benefit from co-location alongside potentially complimentary businesses and organisations.

IE Events is also responsible for the successful development of the
Australian Game Developers Conference (AGDC), last held in December 2005.
